IBSF LogoHarry Evans & Sons Pool tables are hand-made tables built to the standards laid down by the world governing body of the Billiards & Snooker Control Council with regard to table dimensions, pocket openings and cushion angles.

Billiard table in constructionTables are made at our premises using solid kiln-dried furniture grade timber constructed on a fully 'housed' frame with bolted legs and rails. The frame is levelled then fitted with Italian slates of either 3/4" for the smaller tables and 1½" for larger sizes. These are hand ground and further levelled to match this frame. Only solid brass pocket brackets covered in genuine leather are used in all our tables along with high quality cotton nets. Legs are fitted with adjustable toes for levelling in situ. Cushions are fitted with quality Australian moulded rubber or English Northern rubber. The 100% woollen cloth preferred and used is superior English `Strachan' or `Mitchell' brand - traditionally in the familiar emerald green, however, there are other colour choices available to suit your decor. Other features such as leg styles, design details, final timber selection and finish are all choices available to customers. All pieces are part numbered and serial numbered for easy dismantling or reassembly and ease of transportation.

All new tables come with a full compliment of accessories and delivery ground floor Melbourne metropolitan area. Generally tables are six to eight weeks in manufacture however we do have floor stock available for immediate delivery.

Repairs and Maintenance

No job is too big or too small and consistent with our unique experience we can also provide you with handy hints to keep your billiard table and accessories in the best possible playing condition.

Quality new tables should only require a regular brushing either before or after playing to remove chalk debris and covering with a dustcover to eliminate light as well as dust:

Further maintenance (usually annually) involves possibly leveling the table, remarking & re-spotting and ironing the cloth with a billiard iron to ensure cloth runs at the desired speed.

Alternatively, when maintenance requires that little extra we can provide a full service or advise accordingly as to the extent of the repairs needed.

More major repairs may include:

  • Re-covering of your table
  • Re-rubbering of the table (done before recover)
  • Replacing worn nets and leathers
  • Partial or full restoration to the surrounding woodwork

Obligation free quotes can be provided for personal and insurance purposes and all our work is guaranteed. Occasionally repairs can be carried out and in conjunction with customers wishing to move from one residence to another and we are happy to offer our services.

Cue re-tipping and repairs

With normal use tips do become worn or are knocked off and need replacing. In addition the brass ferrule just below the tip may also become loose or fractured. Most cues can be repaired and advise is given as to the best options.
